Responsible for planning, directing and supervising the 24-hour operation of the Heating Plant/Steam lines for the generation and distribution of steam for heating, cooling, hot water and cooking for the NDSU Campus and external customers; provide overall administrative direction to insure the effective operation of the Heating Plant facility, all associated equipment, coal handling, stand-by generators and steam lines.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Assoc Degree or Technical Certificate – Industrial Boiler Technology or closely related program.
  • Five (5) years experience with maintenance, repair and high pressure operation in a multi-fuel type facility.
  • Three year of supervisory experience to include close & effective supervision of five or more full time equivalent
  • Three (3) years of high pressure boiler operation experience using multiple fuels in addition to the required work experience would be acceptable in lieu of the required educational requirement.
  • Boiler operation license or certificate comparable to Minnesota Chief Class Grade B or higher.
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Advanced mechanical skills, ability to operate hand tools, power tools, automated boiler equipment, computerized work stations, water analysis lab equipment, diagnostic equipment
  • Ability to operate pay loader, tandem trucks
  • Computer software – Microsoft products
  • Good interpersonal/oral/written communication skills
